Arenco has been appointed to deliver an $18 million upgrade of the Railway Parade bridge at Bunbury Curran Creek in Glenfield, with construction to begin on Monday 6 July.
The project will widen the bridge and approaches, upgrade the shared pathway, lift load capacity to 120 tonnes and improve walking and cycling links around the busy Glenfield Station precinct.
Railway Parade will close during construction, with traffic and pedestrian detours in place. The upgrade is expected to be completed between late 2026 and early 2027.
Motorists travelling between Glenfield and Macquarie Fields will be detoured via:
- Victoria Road
- Canterbury Road
- Belmont Road.
Mayor Darcy Lound said the works would ease congestion and better connect local businesses to major routes.
“The project will significantly upgrade the load-carrying capacity of the Railway Parade Bridge,” Lound said.
“Glenfield is growing quickly, so it’s important that local infrastructure keeps pace.”
Member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong said the bridge was “a major connection to Glenfield Station” and would improve access to the rail network and business district.
The project is funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
