Organisers have announced a total prize money of six thousand dollars for the inaugural Councillors Cup Badminton Tournament to be held next weekend in Minto.

A1 & Unique Badminton Club have teamed up with Campbelltown Councillor Masud Khalil to promote multiculturalism through this popular Asian sport in the locality.

“We also want to improve our young people’s mental health in the post-pandemic era and encourage women to participate in sports activities,” Cr Khalil said.

The badminton tournament will be organised in men’s and women’s doubles and men’s singles formats on 2nd and 3rd July 2022 between 10 am and 5 pm.

Entry fees are $100 for men’s doubles, $80 for women’s doubles, and $60 for men’s singles.

The total prize money will be $6,000, where men’s doubles champions will receive $1,600, the runner-up will receive $1,000, the women’s doubles champions $1,000, the runner-up $700, men’s singles champion $1,000, and runner-up $700.
