Wilton is set for a major golfing boost after Metro Property Development confirmed the sale of Bingara Gorge Golf Course to Golf NSW, in a move expected to elevate the area into one of New South Wales’ leading golf and lifestyle destinations.
Spanning 90 hectares, the Bingara Gorge course features an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout designed by Graham Marsh and is widely regarded as one of South West Sydney’s standout courses.
Now, Golf NSW is planning to take it even further.
Metro Property Development Managing Director Luke Hartman said the decision was about securing the right long-term operator for a prized community asset.
“Golf NSW brings the vision, expertise and ambition needed to take this world-class course to its fullest potential, reinforcing Bingara Gorge as the premier community in South West Sydney,” he said.
Golf NSW Chief Executive Officer Stuart Fraser said the organisation saw huge promise in the Wilton site.
“Bingara Gorge offers a rare opportunity to secure a premium course in one of the state’s fastest growing regions,” Fraser said.
“Our vision is to enhance the course to championship level, whilst offering an accessible, fun and inclusive experience for golfers of all standards and demographics.”
The sale includes the full 18 holes, existing golf infrastructure and two new golf bridges to be delivered by Metro, with construction due to begin in mid-2026 and wrap up by mid-2027.
Wollondilly Mayor Matt Gould welcomed the announcement, saying it would bring broader benefits for the region.
“This is fantastic news for Wilton and for the whole Wollondilly Shire and will make our area an even more attractive visitor destination,” Gould said.
Golf NSW also plans to establish administration offices, high-performance training facilities and event operations within the clubhouse and pro shop precinct, positioning Bingara Gorge as a future hub for tournaments, corporate golf and player development.
Importantly for locals, golf operations will continue as normal during the transition, with the course remaining open to the public while future membership arrangements are considered by Golf NSW.
