From storytime sessions and sensory play to yoga, creative competitions and community connection, Camden Council is preparing to celebrate Families Week 2026 with a packed program designed for every generation.

Running from 11–17 May, Families Week is a national celebration of connection, care and the people who matter most, encouraging families across the Camden region to reconnect and spend quality time together.

This year’s program features a wide range of activities including:

  • Monday 11 May, 10am–12pm: Australian Breastfeeding Association monthly mother’s group at Spring Farm Community Centre, open to all feeding methods;
  • Thursday 14 May, 9am–2pm: Child Restraint Fitting Day;
  • Friday 15 May, 4pm–6pm: Family Fun Lab for parents, carers and children aged 9–12 at Julia Reserve Community Centre;
  • Sunday 17 May, 2.30pm–4pm: Family Yoga Session at Sandown Community Room, Oran Park Library;
  • Throughout the week: Families Week Storytime sessions at Camden, Narellan and Oran Park libraries;
  • Throughout the week, 10am–12pm: Families Week Sensory Play sessions at Camden, Narellan and Oran Park libraries;
  • Monday 11 May to Monday 25 May: Creative Kids Competition for children aged 4–14 featuring art, poetry and short stories; and
  • Ongoing throughout the week: Playgroups across the Camden area for children and parents to connect through play.

Maor Therese Fedeli said Families Week was a cherished celebration of the people who shape the community every day.

“Our families are often our biggest blessings – the reason we work so hard, the reason we are our best selves and our biggest sources of love and comfort,” she said.

She said the diversity and strength of modern families was something worth celebrating.

“While everyone’s family looks a little different and operates in different ways, every family is unique, strong, vibrant and beautiful in their own way.”

With Camden continuing to grow rapidly, Fedeli said family-focused initiatives remained more important than ever.

“Camden is also one of the fastest growing areas in the country, with young families making up 28.6 per cent of households in Camden. This figure is only getting bigger as we expand,” she said.

Residents are encouraged to join the festivities, explore activities across the week and create lasting memories with loved ones.
