Camden residents are being urged to help shape the future of their local libraries as Council marks Library Lovers Month with a major community call-out.
Throughout February, Camden Council is inviting library members and non-users alike to have their say as part of a review of its current Library Strategy, ensuring it reflects the area’s rapidly growing and diverse population.
Mayor of Camden Therese Fedeli, said the month was the ideal time to reconnect with local libraries and imagine what comes next.
“Our libraries play such an important role in bringing people together and supporting learning, creativity and connection across our community,” Fedeli said.
She said future planning must be driven by community voices.
“As Camden continues to grow, it’s important our Library Strategy grows with it and that starts with listening to our community,” Fedeli added.
Residents can drop into Camden, Narellan or Oran Park libraries to take part in interactive activities, including adding messages to a giant Love Tree sharing what they value most and how libraries can evolve.
Fedeli stressed that everyone’s input matters, saying, “Whether you’re a regular library visitor or haven’t stepped inside for a while, your feedback is valued.”
Pop-up consultation sessions will also roll out across shopping centres and community spaces, with feedback accepted online, in-library or in person.
“This is your opportunity to help shape libraries that continue to serve our community for years to come,” Fedeli said.
