Campbelltown is being called on to pack the stands this Father’s Day as the history-making Wests Tigers NRLW side returns home for a blockbuster clash with the Gold Coast Titans.
The third-placed Tigers take on the second-placed Titans at Campbelltown Sports Stadium this Sunday, September 6, at 1.45pm, with the club hoping supporters can also smash its NRLW home attendance record of 1,504.
The call comes after Wests Tigers secured their first-ever NRLW finals appearance with a thumping 44-14 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Campbelltown on Sunday.
The landmark win was the Tigers’ fifth straight and seventh of the season, while also delivering new club records for their highest NRLW score and biggest winning margin.
It caps a remarkable turnaround under new coach Craig Sandercock following back-to-back wooden spoons.
“Our senior players have bought into the program. They’ve invested and they’ve worked hard. They want to get better themselves, and that’s probably been the driving factor,” Sandercock said.
Captain Kezie Apps said the achievement was the reward for an enormous amount of work behind the scenes.
“Super proud of our team and all the hard work that they’ve put in to get to this moment,” she said.
The Tigers overcame an early Bulldogs challenge to lead 18-4 at half-time before exploding in the second half, with Faythe Manera, Lily Rogan, Shaniece Monschau and Salma Nour among the try scorers as the home side surged past 40 points for the first time in its NRLW history.
Sunday now presents another opportunity to make history, this time in the stands.
