Campbelltown City Council has just announced the first round of business and community support measures being made available to those impacted by the COVID-19 health situation.
Affected residents will be able to access financial hardship support from Council which will allow them 12 months to pay any outstanding accounts, including rates, interest free.
Council will work closely with affected residents to provide information and make arrangements that consider their individual circumstances.
Rent relief and suspended rental payments will be provided to Council’s business tenants based on individual circumstances.
Payment times have been halved to small businesses who provide services to Council to help them with their cash flow.
In the interest of community safety, food and health inspections will still be carried out but businesses will not be charged for inspections.
“We will draw on whatever resources are available to us to support our community through these extraordinary times,” Mayor George Brticevic said.
“These measures are the first stage of our response to this crisis and more will be put in place over the coming weeks to ease the pressure being felt by our residents and businesses,” he said.
“Campbelltown is a city whose residents have always looked out for and supported each other during difficult times and we understand that as community leaders that it is incumbent upon us to live up to that spirit and help those who have been impacted by COVID-19,” he said.
Council’s essential services such as planning, waste collection, cleaning of public spaces and toilets and park maintenance will continue to operate throughout the COVID-19 health situation.
