Campbelltown’s bright young minds took centre stage yesterday evening, as high achievers from 12 local schools were honoured at a special ceremony hosted by Campbelltown City Council at the Arts Centre.
Proud families, teachers and friends filled the venue, celebrating the discipline and determination behind the 2025 HSC results.
Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound, addressing the students, acknowledged the grit required to succeed.
“Reaching this milestone also takes a lot of focus and a lot of work,” he said.
Drawing on personal experience, the Mayor added, “All of my three children have gone through the HSC now, so I do understand the commitment required to balance study with all the other responsibilities and pressures that come with this important year.”
With a light-hearted nod to the distractions of teenage life, he joked, “Myself and my wife, we were always battling to keep them off the Xbox or the PlayStation to concentrate on studies. But anyway, we got there.”
Mayor Lound praised the students’ perseverance, telling them their “hard work and dedication are a testament to your determination and success, and I congratulate you all for that.”
He also paid tribute to the community behind the results. “Tonight is also a great opportunity to acknowledge the support that you received along the way. Behind every high achievements here tonight, there are fantastic teachers and mentors, also your wonderful family, I’m sure, is super proud tonight on what you have achieved and what lies ahead with your study and career choice, and, of course, your friends who have played their role in the journey as well.”
Turning to educators and families, he added, “Teachers at our local high schools, I want to thank them for their efforts, as I’m sure you do as well and your families.”
Also present to encourage the students were Member for Hughes David Moncrieff and Campbelltown Councillor Seta Berbari, joining the large audience in applauding a cohort whose results reflect not only academic excellence, but resilience, focus and community support.
