Campbelltown Mayor George Greiss has been elected as the new Chair of The Parks, Sydney’s Parkland Council’s Mayoral Forum.

The Mayoral Forum is a unique alliance of eight Councils: Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Liverpool, Penrith and Wollondilly, working together to advocate for the Western Parkland City to deliver on a shared vision for the region.

“I’m honoured to be elected Chair by my fellow Mayors and am excited about what is to come for the Western Parkland City,” Cr Greiss said.

“The eight Councils share much in common and it’s critical that we continue to use a united voice to help bring about positive change for our communities during this period of significant growth across the region.”

The Western Parkland City is one of the fastest growing areas of Australia – a thriving region of diverse communities, economic opportunity and environmental wonders.

Currently home to more than 1.1 million people, the Western Parkland City includes some of the fastest growing local government areas in Australia and is expected to grow by half a million people by 2036.

“I’d like to acknowledge and thank Cr Therese Fedeli for her contributions as Chair over the past year and look forward to working alongside my fellow Mayors to continue advocating for the important infrastructure and local services that will create a thriving Western Parkland City,” Cr Greiss said.

Cr Greiss was first elected to Campbelltown Council in 2008 and was elected Mayor in January 2022.
