Spring in Camden is always bloomin’ beautiful, awash with the colour and really the perfect time to enter the Council’s Garden Competition.
The annual competition invites residents, businesses and schools to enter their gardens with more than $3,000 worth of prizes up for grabs.
Ian and Maureen Thackery, who won Best Floral Display with almost 400 roses in their garden in the 2020 Garden Competition, said one of the main tricks to winning was plenty of colour.
“The judges like colour in the garden and to keep it spick and span. The gardens that have won over the years have been beautiful,” Mrs Thackery said.
“You also have to carefully select the category that you are going to enter.”
There are eight categories for this year’s Garden Competition including:
- Senior Citizen Garden;
- Small Residential;
- Large Residential;
- Veggie Garden / Plot;
- Best Floral Display;
- School / Class Plot;
- Most Sustainable Garden; and
- Commercial Garden.
“Spring is the perfect time to take care of your garden and I have been pleased to see so many people outside making their homes look so beautiful,” Mayor of Camden Therese Fedeli said.
“Council’s Garden Competition seeks to applaud the passion and dedication of our residents and recognise the importance of greenery throughout the area.”
Entries are open until Monday 10 October.
