Western Sydney Migrant Resource Centre has appointed Dor Akech Achiek as its new Chief Executive Officer, with the appointment taking effect on 27 April 2026.
The announcement, made by the Board, follows what it described as a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, ending with a leader already tested in the role.
Dor has served as Interim CEO for the past six months, during which he delivered “stability, clear direction, and thoughtful leadership” while keeping the organisation focused on its mission to support culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Western Sydney.
Dor steps into the permanent role with more than 17 years of experience in the sector, most recently as Head of Settlement Services at Settlement Services International.
The Board said his experience, sector knowledge and purpose-driven approach made him the standout choice to lead WSMRC into its next chapter.
In accepting the role, Dor said, “I am honoured and excited to be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Western Sydney Migrant Resource Centre.”
He praised the organisation’s “proud history of delivering responsive and impactful services” and said he looked forward to “enhancing our services, strengthening connections, and creating lasting, positive impact for the people we serve.”
Board Chair Rola Hijwel said Dor’s appointment comes with strong confidence from the organisation’s leadership.
“Dor’s extensive experience and passionate commitment to our values and mission make him the ideal leader to guide WSMRC into the future,” she said.
The appointment comes at a key time for WSMRC, as the organisation continues expanding its reach to meet the changing needs of migrant and refugee communities across Western Sydney.
Under Dor’s leadership, the centre is expected to deepen partnerships, strengthen services and continue its vital work helping individuals and families build connected, inclusive lives.
