The escalating cost-of-living crisis is forcing an increasing number of individuals to sacrifice meals in order to meet essential expenses such as rent and utilities. This has led to a surge in demand for food assistance from local charities, with many seeking help for the first time.

Kim Landouw from local charity Big Yellow Umbrella says, “The cost of living has meant local families cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables and we are inundated with requests for support”.

Wests Group Macarthur has joined forces with Big Yellow Umbrella for the Yellow Hampers food relief program this winter, aiming to help these struggling families in Macarthur.

The Yellow Hampers program provides crucial assistance to improve food security in the community. Wests and Big Yellow Umbrella are encouraging donations of non-perishable pantry items at various locations until June 30th.

Daniel Perkiss, CEO of Wests Group Macarthur, emphasized the importance of supporting community partners like Big Yellow Umbrella.

“Big Yellow Umbrella does an exceptional job of supporting both individuals and families within the local community. We are pleased to partner to support the Yellow Hampers appeal,” he said.

Food donation boxes will be available in reception areas of Wests League Club, Country Club Gledswood Hills, Lakeside Golf Club and Big Yellow Umbrella head office in Narellan.
