Disaster assistance is now available for residents in Camden and Wingecarribee, along with those in Kiama, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven and Wollongong LGAs followingthe impact of flooding on 6 June 2024.

The Australian and New South Wales Governments are providing support through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The assistance includes:

  • Immediate needs support such as emergency accommodation and essential items.
  • Grants for replacing essential household items and structural home repairs.
  • Support for local councils to clean up and restore damaged public assets.
  • Concessional loans for small businesses, primary producers, and non-profit organizations, and grants for sporting and recreation clubs.
  • Freight subsidies for primary producers to transport livestock and fodder.

Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Senator Murray Watt, and NSW Minister for Emergency Services, Jihad Dib, emphasized the ongoing assessment of the flooding impact and the cooperation between governments to provide necessary assistance.

“We’re supporting these communities to recover from this severe weather event, given many were also impacted in April this year,” Mr Dib said.

“The NSW Government is continuing to assess the situation and is adapting as we gain a clearer picture of the impact of this disaster, and the Australian Government stands ready to respond to any requests for assistance,” Mr Watt said.

The NSW SES is actively assessing damage and supporting affected communities.
