Life-sized Woolly Mammoths, Sabre-Tooth Tigers and Dire Wolves are roaring back to Sydney Zoo as Creatures of the Ice Age returns for the winter school holidays.
Running from 26 June to 16 August, the popular attraction transforms the zoo into a frozen prehistoric world featuring 14 giant animatronic and static Ice Age creatures, alongside new family-friendly interactive experiences.
Visitors can wander through the immersive trail and come face-to-face with some of history’s most fascinating animals, including Woolly Mammoths, Terror Birds, Ground Sloths, Glyptodons, Irish Elk, Polar Bears and Australia’s own Diprotodon.
A major new attraction this year is the Snow Dome, an indoor winter-themed play experience featuring soft-play activities and sensory elements for younger children. Located near the zoo’s food and beverage precinct, the supervised attraction will operate on weekends throughout the event and daily during the NSW school holidays.
Children can also unleash their creativity through an Augmented Reality Colouring Experience, where Ice Age-themed artwork is brought to life using interactive iPad stations. Families can continue the fun at home using the companion app.
Adding to the winter atmosphere, snow machines will create regular bursts of snowfall along the themed pathway, giving visitors a true taste of an Ice Age adventure.
Best of all, Creatures of the Ice Age is included free with general zoo admission, making it one of Western Sydney’s standout family attractions these winter school holidays.
