NSW Labor is calling on the NSW Government to urgently increase the capacity for COVID-19 testing throughout the state, including here in Campbelltown.

As COVID case numbers continue a daily rise, there is a dramatic increase in queues at clinics and longer waits for results – much to the frustration of those who have been turned away from testing clinics.

Shadow Minister for Western Sydney and Member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren MP, said the people of Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region were paying the price for the NSW Government’s lack of foresight.

“Testing clinics in Campbelltown and the wider Macarthur region have been overrun and they simply cannot keep up with the increase in demand,” Mr Warren said.

“It beggars belief that the government failed to increase testing capacity to ensure those who needed a test could get one in a timely manner.”

Shadow Minister for Health, Ryan Park MP, said it was ludicrous that the NSW Government had not increased the capacity of testing clinics.

“Thousands of NSW residents are going out and doing the right thing in trying to get tested, to keep themselves and their communities safe ahead of the holidays,” Mr Park said.

“Testing is a key way to provide peace of mind and ensure people can enjoy Christmas and the holidays as safely as possible.”

With a negative test required to enter several states, many travellers are afraid that their results may not be known before departure.
