Dust off the Akubras, James Johnston is riding into Camden as the headline act for Boots n’ Beats.
The contemporary country powerhouse, who rocketed to fame with his breakout hit Raised Like That, became the first independent Australian country artist to score an ARIA Platinum single and he hasn’t looked back.
With millions of streams, multiple Golden Guitar wins and a chart-topping debut album, Johnston’s sophomore record was recently crowned the top selling ARIA Australian Country Album of 2025.
Now he’s bringing that raw, regional storytelling to Boots n’ Beats and he’s revved up.
“I’m so excited to come and play Boots n’ Beats Festival this June,” he said.
“I can’t wait to hit the stage, turn it up, and share a huge night of music with you all in Camden. Let’s go!”
Set against the rolling paddocks of Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park, the June 13 festival promises a full-throttle celebration of Camden’s country roots from nationally renowned artists and local talent to country-style eats, craft beers and ciders, kids’ entertainment and plenty of Boots n’ Beats merch.
Camden Mayor Therese Fedeli said the announcement was worth “hollerin’ from the hilltops”.
“Boots n’ Beats is all about getting good people together to enjoy good music, good food and a good time. James fits that bill perfectly and I know he’ll create an incredible atmosphere,” she said.
“I can’t wait to see everyone at the event having a great time!”
More artist reveals and ticket details are set to drop soon but one thing’s certain: Camden’s biggest country party just found its leading man.
