With 10 days to go for the NSW State election, Federal Member for Macarthur Dr Mike Freelander feels that Labor will deliver for NSW and in particular for the Macarthur region.

Since becoming the Member for Macarthur in 2016, I have had many interactions with the NSW Liberal Government regarding issues and policies affecting our region, including Appin Road, our local koala colony, overdevelopment, and concerns with underfunding for schools and healthcare professionals.

They take this region for granted and have failed to provide the support and services that residents and businesses require.

It is time for a fresh start and that is why I am strongly encouraging all local residents to vote for a NSW Labor Government on March 25th.

I have met with the Labor candidates for Camden, Leppington and for Badgery’s Creek and I am impressed and excited by their passion to lead this community in the NSW Parliament.

This has real benefits for our region, including:

  • Plans to build a new hospital at Western Sydney Airport,
  • Slash road tolls for tradies and cap road tolls at $60 per week,
  • Safe staffing levels in public hospitals,
  • Investing in new apprentices,
  • Building trains, buses, ferries, and light rail in NSW,
  • Abolishing stamp duty (for first home buyers up to $800,000) and,
  • Establishing a Great Koala National Park.

The Labor candidate for Camden, Sally Quinnell, is a local mother, teacher and small business owner who understands what the Camden region needs and deserves. Sally has tirelessly been campaigning for new schools and emergency services infrastructure, as well as announcing that a NSW Labor Government will invest $1.5 million to upgrade school safety crossings in Camden.

Likewise, the Labor candidate for Leppington, Nathan Hagarty, is a local advocate and Councilor and he too understands what the growing population of Leppington needs to support their schools, businesses, and organisations.

Garion Thain is the Labor candidate for Badgery’s Creek and will be a wonderful representative for growing suburbs such as Oran Park. Garion and NSW Labor will work to invest in infrastructure to service the new Western Sydney Airport and ensure that local businesses and workers benefit from this project.

Anoulack Chanthivong MP, the Member for Macquarie Fields, and Shadow Minister for Finance and for Industry & Trade, as well as Greg Warren MP, Member for Campbelltown and Shadow Minister for Local Government, Veterans, and Western Sydney are two local NSW MP’s who will do a fantastic job as Minister’s for our great state.

It is for these reasons that I am endorsing NSW Labor candidates and sitting MPs within our region as they are dedicated, hard-working local advocates who will champion our communities.
