No lift as yet for Macquarie Fields Station

Despite its logistical hurdles, State member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong will not give up the fight to get a lift installed at Macquarie Fields railway station.

“We are a growing area. We have people who have mobility issues, pensioners and young mothers with prams who want to use their local Macquarie Fields train station, but they can’t because they don’t have a lift”, Mr Chanthivong said.

For Rosemary, who is wheelchair bound, the inconvenience is obvious. “If I have to go into the city or Liverpool, I have to go to Ingleburn and then cross the line so I can go up to the city,” she explained.

Five years ago transport authorities drew up a list of 100 stations that most needed lifts and are apparently working their way through.

“They just need to come out and have a look at and speak to our community, to know how important this lift is for us. So whatever the list is, we need to be at the top,” said Anne Stanley MP, Federal Member for Werriwa.
