Campbelltown MP, Greg Warren, visited two Campbelltown residents today who will celebrate their 100th birthdays in the coming days.
Ruse’s Yvonne Woodward will turn 100 tomorrow on Saturday, July 2, whilst Leumeah’s Russell Tipper will mark the occasion on Tuesday, July 5.
Mr Warren surprised Mrs Woodward with a bouquet of flowers and a certificate.
“Yvonne is such a character and has had so many memorable moments throughout her life,” he said.
“As a little girl, she walked across the Harbour Bridge the day it was opened – a historic event in both our state and our nation’s history.”
Mr Warren also surprised Mr Tipper with a box of chocolates and a certificate.
“Russell has also had an incredible life; he was stationed in Darwin during WWII as a gunner – so he certainly played a pivotal role in protecting and serving our nation,” he said.
Mr Warren paid tribute to both individuals for reaching incredible milestones.
“Congratulations again to both Yvonne and Russell for reaching such a wonderful milestone.
“I hope they enjoy what I am sure will be remarkable celebrations with their families and their loved ones.”
