2018 NSW Pacific Awards
The Cube overflowed to celebrate the NSW Pacific Awards and acknowledge contributions and achievements of the community during the past year.
“I think I won it because I’m very proud of my culture and that displays a lot through my performances and through how I present myself”, said singer/songwriter Rebecca Hatch.
Congratulating the awardees, Greg Warren, State Member for Campbelltown, said, “In my view, our community’s the winner because we’re so much better off with the valued contribution of our wonderful, beautiful, and amazing Pacific Island Community.”
In his keynote address, Matthew Tukaki, Chairman at National Coalition for Suicide Prevention, hoped that everyone could help spread the message that “failure, is actually a magical ingredient to life, that pushes us forward through the learning and the lessons so tomorrow can be a good day.”
Chair of the NSW Council for Pacific Communities, Mal Fruean acknowledged her fellow board members for the time, sacrifice, talents and the gifts that they’ve given to this Council.
The Hon Ray Williams, State Minister for Multiculturalism, Dr Harinath OAM, Chairman of Multicultural NSW Advisory Board and George Brticevic, Mayor of Campbelltown also spoke on the occasion that was punctuated by energetic stage performances.
