Hoo-hoo-hooooo, it was Halloween with a twist out at Bargo this year.
Wollondilly Council partnered with the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary to present Owloween for the very first time. And judging from the public response, it was a hoot-iful success!
Over a thousand visitors dropped by over the two nights of Spooky Family Fun, with animal encounters, face painting, magic shows, dinner with the live music, and of course meeting the owls for Owloween. Brad and the AWS team went to town with the spooky décor too.
Even Abbey the Koala from Oz Funland dropped by to thrill the kiddies with her good friend and local wildlife warrior Ricardo Lonza, and showed her support for Sydney Wildlife (Sydney Metropolitan Wildlife Services). The naughty Abbey did however try to score some very un-koala-like snacks with trick or treat, we’re told.
“Feathered Friends are making their permanent home at the Australian Wildlife Sanctuary in the near future, but they came out for a special visit for Owloween, bringing their two beautiful Barn Owls with them,” Wollondilly Councillor Suzy Brandstater said.
One of the highlights of the Owloween was the show ‘It’s a Bat’s Life’ starring Bruce and Batty the Fruit Bats and the MC for the event Augustus Powerful Owl.
“It was great fun filled event with lots of interesting characters and such an awesome Halloween vibe for all to enjoy,” Sydney Wildlife’s Carla-maree Simmons said.
“Looking forward to next year’s event, bring on Owloween 2023!”
