This Valentine’s Day, local nature lovers could consider a movie outing with a difference that involves a bird encounter too.
Black Cockatoo Crisis, a social impact documentary film on the plight of the black cockatoo, will be screened at Campbelltown Arts Centre on February 14 starting at 6.30pm followed by a discussion with the film’s director Jane Hammond on what we can all do to help save our black cockatoos.
This event will include the opportunity to meet some magnificent birds of prey and rare black cockatoos up close and personal; Ravi Wasan from Feathered Friends Bird Sanctuary in Orchard Hills will showcase the birds.
Campbelltown Council’s Natural Areas team will be on hand to discuss Councils projects that community can get involved in to conserve our local Gang Gang Cockatoos.
Black Cockatoos are being pushed to the brink of extinction across the nation. Black Cockatoo Crisis examines the plight of three species of black cockatoo in south west Western Australia and the communities fighting to save these endangered birds.
