Wests Group Macarthur has begun construction on The Woodlands, a major new family entertainment precinct at The Sherwood Macarthur in Leumeah, set to become the largest family play destination in South West Sydney.
Developed with leading playground specialist KOMPAN, the treehouse-inspired precinct will almost double the size of The Sherwood and feature nine-metre climbing towers, interconnected play structures, water and sensory play, basketball courts, an outdoor viewing screen, arcade games and a dedicated toddler zone, Spellbound Shack.
The expansion will also include a new family café and kids’ sweets counter serving hot donuts, loaded soft serve, gelato, snow cones, milkshakes and light meals, creating a destination for families, birthday parties and group celebrations.
Wests Group Macarthur CEO Daniel Perkiss said The Woodlands would be far more than a playground.
“The Woodlands has been designed as a complete family entertainment destination where children can spend hours exploring, climbing and playing while parents enjoy the great food and hospitality they have come to expect from a Wests Group Macarthur venue,” he said.
KOMPAN Australia Managing Director Debbie Chambers said the project would “set a new benchmark for family recreation in South West Sydney” and become one of the company’s most significant Australian developments.
The Sherwood Venue Manager Julia Maulguet said the new precinct and family café would provide “a hospitality and entertainment destination unlike anything currently available in the region.”
Construction is now underway, with The Woodlands expected to open in late 2026 or early 2027.
