Women and girls in Camden sport are being offered the chance to sharpen their leadership skills, with two fully funded scholarships now up for grabs.

Camden Council is backing two local participants to join Empowered to Lead, a six-week virtual leadership program run by Play Like a Girl Australia for women and girls aged 15 and over.

“We know our local sporting community is filled with talented, passionate and inspiring women and girls who have so much to contribute, both on and off the field,” Camden Mayor Vince Ferreri said.

The scholarships are open to athletes, coaches, volunteers, administrators, officials and emerging leaders involved in Camden sport.

The national program combines leadership development, guest speakers and weekly mentoring, giving participants practical skills they can use across sport, work and everyday life while connecting with other women in sport.

“These scholarships are about giving local women and girls the confidence, skills and connections they need to step forward, take on leadership opportunities and have their voices heard,” Ferreri said.

Participants can choose between a Tuesday evening stream starting 20 October at 7pm or a Thursday lunchtime stream beginning 22 October at noon.

Applications for the two fully funded Camden scholarships close Friday 2 October 2026. For more information and to apply, visit Play Like a Girl Australia – Empowered to Lead scholarships.
