The struggles, successes and aspirations of four women who have been part of the story and fabric of the Macarthur region will be showcased as part of Campbelltown Council’s International Women’s Day celebrations.

Women of Macarthur: Stories from the past, is a free presentation at the HJ Daley Library on Wednesday 9 March from 10am to 11am and will include local history trivia with some great prizes on offer.

Mayor of Campbelltown George Greiss said, “International Women’s Day is a time for us to celebrate those women in our city who make a difference, not only in our community but also in our everyday lives,”

“Throughout Campbelltown’s history, we have had many great women contribute to building up our city into the place it is today. This is an opportunity for us to celebrate and remember those contributions while also acknowledging the women who are continuing that legacy today,” Cr Greiss added

The weeklong celebrations from Monday 7 March to Sunday 13 March include range of free events for women to get involved in.

The calendar kicks off with Yoga in the Park, with the talented team from Roots Yoga facilitating three free beginners yoga sessions at Redfern Park in Minto (Tuesday 8 March), Hallinan Park in Ingleburn (Thursday 10 March) and Koshigaya Park in Campbelltown (Saturday 12 March).

At Retro-robics – Greg Percival Community Hall, Saturday 12 March – Limitless Fitness & Nutrition promise to transport you right back to the 80’s as you move your bodys and sweat, smile and SHINE through a 45 minute workout. (It doesn’t matter where you are in your fitness journey, this class is designed to help you move at your level.)

Campbelltown Arts Centre will host Down to Earth | an International Women’s Week Special Event where local women can listen to the stories of local artists and learn clay art with the Macarthur Ceramic Network on Friday 11 March from 5pm to 7pm.
