Wests Group Macarthur has launched a winter food appeal to help local families struggling with rising living costs.
The group has partnered with Big Yellow Umbrella to support its Hamper House Program, which provides essential food and pantry items to vulnerable individuals and families across Macarthur.
As grocery prices, rents and household pressures continue to bite, demand for food support has surged.
“The cost of living has meant local families cannot afford fresh fruit and vegetables and we are inundated with requests for support,” Big Yellow Umbrella’s Kim Landouw said.
Big Yellow Umbrella has supported the local community since 1987, working to reduce isolation, disadvantage and food insecurity.
Wests Group Macarthur is calling on members and the wider community to donate non-perishable pantry items with a minimum six-month shelf life.
Donation boxes are available at Wests League Club, Country Club Gledswood Hills, Lakeside Golf Club and Big Yellow Umbrella’s Narellan head office.
Donations are open until Tuesday, June 30.
Wests Group Macarthur CEO Daniel Perkiss said the partnership reflected the club group’s commitment to practical local support.
“At Wests, we strongly believe in empowering our community partners to deliver what is needed around the region, when people need it,” he said.
“Big Yellow Umbrella does an exceptional job of supporting both individuals and families within the local community. We are pleased to partner to support the Hamper House Program.”
